Dr. Sebastian Schirrmeister
The Institute for the History of German Jews congratulates Dr. Sebastian Schirrmeister!
The Eduard Duckesz Prize, awarded every two years by the Eduard Duckesz Fellow (Hamburg) and the Moses Mendelssohn Academy in Halberstadt and endowed with 3,000 euros each, will be awarded in 2026 to the Polish literary scholar and Sephardic studies expert Dr. Agnieszka August-Zarębska (Wrocław) and to the German scholar of German language and literature and literary scholar Dr. Sebastian Schirrmeister (Hamburg). Both are being honored for their outstanding and innovative work in the fields of Jewish linguistics and literary studies. The award ceremony took place on August 26, 2026, at the Institute for Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław as part of the 15th Sephardic Summer School.
