The Jüdische Frauenbund, a Contemporary Perspective on its 120th Jubilee

In June 1904, a group of Jewish activists founded the Jüdische Frauenbund, the League of Jewish Women (JFB) in Berlin. An international conference, organized by the Leo Baeck Institute Jerusalem, the Institute for the History of the German Jews (IGdj), the Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft des Leo Baeck Instituts in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (WAG) and the Moses Mendelssohn Center (MMZ). It will not only celebrate the 120th anniversary of the JFB’s founding, but also shed new light on the history of Jews in Germany in the decades before the Second World War from a gender perspective and ask about the impact of the Jewish women’s movement for our present day and age.

The conference will take place from 18 to 20 November 2024 at the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, Bertha-Pappenheim-Platz 1, 60311 Frankfurt am Main.
